Ultrasound uses sound waves (not radiation) to create images of internal organs and tissues. A small handheld device called a transducer is moved across the skin, sending sound waves into the body. These waves bounce off internal structures and return as echoes, which are then converted into live images on a monitor.
Ultrasound is commonly used to examine the abdomen, pelvis, neck, blood vessels, and certain soft tissue areas. It’s painless, non-invasive, and completely safe, even during pregnancy.

Ultrasound imaging is versatile and can detect a wide range of conditions, including:
Please note: We do not perform transvaginal or obstetric ultrasounds.
At our ACR-accredited facility, every study is interpreted by a board-certified radiologist, and we work closely with your referring provider to ensure the right test is performed for your symptoms or concerns.

Ultrasounds are typically quick and comfortable. You’ll lie on an exam table while a technologist applies a small amount of gel to the skin. The technologist will then glide a transducer over the area being examined. You may be asked to hold your breath or shift positions depending on what’s being scanned.
Most appointments take 30 minutes or less, and you can return to your normal routine immediately afterward.
